SMITHFIELD—No one was injured in a two vehicle accident that flipped a postal truck on it’s side last evening. “The red car hit, broadsided the mail truck,” said Todd Elwood who witnessed the accident at the intersection of 300 South and 100 West. “You can see where it spun around on two wheels and then it just tipped over.”

“She had a seatbelt on and everything rolled-up, buttoned-up like she should,” said Smithfield Postmaster Jeff Wittwer. “So it protected her. She’s in [the truck now] actually working to get the mail straightened out to finish delivery.”

Another postal truck would be there soon to pick up the mail.

The driver of the red sedan also appeared unharmed as she stood by her car making phone calls.

The Smithfield police department were on scene within minutes and everything was cleared up quickly.
