The Bobcats spank the Spartans

The Sky View Bobcat football team moved to 2-1 on the season after a dominating win over the Minico Spartans of Rupert, Idaho.

After opening the season with a disappointing 6 point loss to the Timpview Thunderbirds of Provo, Utah in week one the Bobcats rebounded the following week with a 44-13 victory over the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles from Spanish Fork, Utah.

Last Friday the Bobcats cruised to a huge victory over the Spartans with a 49-6 win to elevate them to a 2-1 record for the season.

Shutting out the Spartans in three quarters, the Bobcats scored in all four quarters of the competition behind the passing of quarterback Braxton Godderidge who was 17-of-23 on the night, connecting for four touchdowns. Godderidge also added 81 yards rushing adding a score in the ground game.

Justin Evans caught five passes for 83 yards, while Logan Miller hauled in three for 76 yards. Alex McCrae grabbed two passes for 43 yards followed by Ryan Martin who had four catches for 26 yards. Evans, Miller, and Martin all posted touchdown catches in the game.

A majority of the rushing duties were handled by Dane Anderson who carried the ball sixteen times for 98 yards, followed by Godderidge’s 81 yards. Issac Herrmann handled the ball seven times for 66 yards and Drake Oldham added 21 yards with his four carries. Anderson, Godderidge, and Hermann all posted scores on the ground.

Dane Anderson was also stellar on the defensive side of the ball posting thirty five solo tackles. Logan Miller participated in ten tackles, while Colton Durrant and Dillon Smith got in on nine-a-piece. Levi Hammer and Drake Oldham were each responsible for eight tackles, as the duo of Christian Fife and Max Christensen each posted seven tackles.

The Bobcats travel to 0-3 Bonneville to open up region play this Friday, September 13th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Lakers field in Washington Terrace, Utah. For those unable to travel to the game you can follow the Bobcats on Cache Valley Radio Group's KLGN 1390 AM and 103.3 FM.
