SMITHFIELD — Somebody’s Attic thrift store is not only full of bargains, but ways to help out the community. The store is completely non-profit and all proceeds go to help fund community outreach programs and provide clothing and other goods to those in need.

Not only does Somebody’s Attic benefit the community, it is also a place to get great deals. They have rooms full of clothing, movies, books, toys, shoes and more.

Sara Hepworth, a frequent shopper, said, “I found some amazing cowboy boots here for only $3 last week!”

Suzette Prom, manager of the Smithfield store, said they have about 15 to 20 volunteers who donate three hours of their time each week to help run the store. These volunteers do everything from sales to cleaning windows and vacuuming. Many organizations and families also volunteer for special projects like painting or collecting donations in their communities.

“All the donations come from the community, without them this wouldn’t be possible,” Prom said.

Somebody’s Attic was started in Logan in 1985 as a means to gather funds for abuse-prevention programs. It is owned by a board of directors who oversee all of the store’s dealings. According to Prom, the store provides funding to Community Abuse Prevention Services Agency (CAPSA) and Child and Family Support Center of Cache County Inc., among others.

The store is located at 3 South Main St. and is open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
