Homes were evacuated in the area of 600 South 250 East in Smithfield because of a natural gas leak. Homes started being evacuated before 10:30 a.m. Monday morning after utility crews struck a natural gas line.

Emergency crews closed down 600 South, 800 South and traffic between the two on 250 East for approximately two hours Monday morning.
