Sky View wrestlers took 3rd at region, send 19 to division
Nineteen Sky View wrestlers are headed to Highland High School in Salt Lake City Friday and Saturday to compete in the north division tournament, just one week after the team took third in the regional tournament held at Logan High School. Having a regional and sectional tournament is a new format that gives the team an opportunity to qualify more athletes to compete in the state championship tournament that will be held next week in Orem at Utah Valley University (UVU) beginning Wednesday, February 10th and running through Friday February 12th.
“The team had a great regional meet. Abraham Herrera and Jamison Carroll wrestled well, beating kids that had beat them before to get into the finals. Jordan Jarrett has been solid all year long and continued to do just that in a very tough 285 lb. weight class,” said head coach Kyle Wright. “The team has come a long way since November and has prepared well for the divisional tournament.”
Among those that scored well at the Regional Tournament were: Braden Anderson, 11th Grade – 1st place in the 140 lb. weight class; Jamison Carroll, 12th Grade – 2nd place in the 145 lb. weight class; Tanner Smith , 12th Grade – 2nd place in the 171 lb. weight class; and 4th place finishers: Hayden Humphreys, 9th Grade, 103 lb.; Chet Anderson, 11th Grade, 171 lb.; and Jordan Jarrett, 12th Grade, 285 lb.
