The Sky View High School Bobcats Boys Basketball Team hit the end of their 4A State Playoff journey, as they lost to the Timpview T-Birds, 59-48 at the Dee Events Center in Odgen on Thursday evening. The Bobcats kept things close through two quarters, but the T-Birds exploded in the third quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 17-6. Sky View struggled offensively as well in the fourth quarter and was never able to make up the deficit.

Senior Kyler Carlsen shined in the loss, scoring 16 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the floor to go along with five rebounds. Carlsen didn’t have much help from his teammates though; he was the only Bobcat to reach double figure scoring. Senior Nick Eskelson came the closest to scoring double-figures hitting nine points on three 3’s all the fourth quarter when the T-Birds had already put the game away.
Eli Robison of Timpview led all scorers with 14 points and two other T-Birds also reached double figures. Colby Jorgenson scored 12 points and Christian Covey had 11 points. Overall the T-Birds shot 55 percent from the field.
The Bobcats played stellar defense against the T-Birds through the first two quarters, but struggled on the offensive end. Sky View finished the night shooting 35 percent from the field and from 3-point range.
In the third quarter Don Corbell hit two lay-ups, Carlsen hit one lay-up, and Brian Godfrey hit a pair of free-throws to account for the Bobcats scoring. In the end, especially in the third quarter, the T-Birds fast-breaks and offensive rebounding doomed the Bobcats. The T-Birds out-rebounded the Bobcats 38-28, and out-scored the Bobcats in the paint 28-18. One positive note for the Bobcats is that they out-scored the T-Birds bench 20-7. The Bobcats finished second place in Region 5 and ended the season with a 17-6 record.
