Blue Sox double header at Health Days
The Blue Sox opened their season at Health Days with a double-header against the Ogden Cyclones beating them 6-5 and 13-2. It was the end of the fabulous Health Days activities at Forrester Acres. The Lions Club members served Lion Pups as fast as they could make them, children were playing catch behind the stands, and everyone enjoyed the sunny evening.
On somber note, after the national anthem there was a moment of silence Richard Hansen. Hansen managed the Blue Sox for 51-years (beginning in 1959). He passed away in January.
Later, after the first game, Percell Harris was told she won a $1500 prize. So she came to the field. They rolled out a huge box on a dolly and set it on home plate. Just then the box popped open and out came Randy Pitcher — a Smithfield fireman — with an engagement ring and an important question.
She said yes.
Blue Sox have a big season ahead of them. The entire schedule is now on the Community Calendar. Go Blue Sox!
