Sky View boy’s track & field finish first at state
Behind the legs of Brady Martin, the Sky View boy’s track & field team led by Head Coach Jim Walker captured first place at the state meet last Friday.
Coach Walker had a good deal to be excited about as last week, as he and his wife Angela welcomed their fourth child, a son they will call JD. Then on Friday his boy’s track and field team put together a monumental effort in racking up 78 team points to win the state track meet. Walker led track teams have put together some impressive seasons of late. The girl’s teams had back to back wins at the State meet in 2009 and 2010, and now the boys team has finished in the top spot in 2011.
Senior, Brady Martin put up the fastest times in the 100, 200, & 400 meter sprints. Junior, Tyler Roberts picked up the win in the 800 meter race, while Junior, Tyler Stephens put up the best time in the 100 meter high hurdles.
The Sky View relay teams had a great meet finishing 1st in the 4×100, 4×200, 4×800 meter relays, and 4th in the 4×400 relay. The relay teams also finished 5th in the 2, 2, 4, 800m sprint relay.
Other top 10 finishes for Sky View included, a 6th place tie in the 200m; Blake McKinley finished 8th in the 400m; Tyler Roberts finished 8th in the 1600m; Yabise Wells took a 5th place finish in the 300m hurdles; Tim Davis and Jaren Balls took 5th & 6th respectively in the Shot Put; Colby Vilanueva took 7th in the Discus; Jared Lambert finished 4th in the Javelin; In the High Jump, Jalen Moore ties for first, Anthony Israelsen finished 3rd, and Bret Mortensen finished in a 7 way tie for 6th place; In the Long Jump, Blake McKinley finished 3rd, Yabitse Wells finished 6th followed by Zach McKinley, Gabe Anderson, and Anthony Isrealsen in 8th, 9th and 10th respectively; In the Triple Jump, Alex Eby, Zayden Clark, and Bret Mortensen finished 7th, 8th and 9th respectively.
