Thoroughly Modern Millie makes her way to the Sky View stage
The roaring twenties were renowned for their jazzy music, speakeasy’s, snappy clothes, and prohibition. Thoroughly Modern Millie now being performed at Sky View has all of these and more.
Once again Sky View’s Sky High Players have hit a home run. Thoroughly Modern Millie is an entertaining and lively production full of great music, superb dance numbers, and great acting. The well rehearsed cast puts on a flawless performance, as always, in wonderful period costumes on a well designed set.
Makenzie Davis is charming as Millie Dillmount a naive Kansas girl recently moved to New York to find a rich husband and maybe even eventually love.
After setting her sights on her boss Trevor Graydon, Millie eventually becomes enamored with a seemingly broke Jimmy Smith. Fun ensues in the pursuit of marriage, happiness, and love as this trio winds their way through this tale.
With the help of a wonderful supporting cast — including Emily Teuscher as the conniving Mrs. Meers, Kortnee Smith in the role of movie star Muzzy van Hossmere, Augustine Larsen playing Dorothy Brown roommate and friend to Millie, Scott Glaittli as Millie’s boss Trevor Grayson, and Alexander Eby as Jimmy Smith the eventual love of Millie’s life — Millie winds her way though many adventures.
The play is directed by Nan Wharton, choreographed by Katie Packard, and musically directed by Karen Teuscher.
The show will continue to go on as there are several more opportunities to see the play held in Sky View’s auditorium. The curtain goes up each night at 7 p.m. beginning on Monday the 11th and then runs from Thursday, February 14th through Saturday the 16th.
Be sure to get your tickets and see this fantastic production, you will not be disappointed.
