Sky View corals the Mustangs but get mauled by the Grizzlies

The Sky View Bobcats split a pair of valley rival games beating Mountain Crest 49-16 two weeks ago, but found themselves over matched in a 52-21 Thursday night loss at Logan.

Sky View now 5-2 on the season are a perfect 3-0 at home and have a 2-2 record on the road after the loss at Logan. The Bobcats are currently sitting at third place in the region behind Box Elder and Logan.

Mountain Crest Summary

The Bobcats were able to play a solid game against an ailing Mountain Crest team that has played three different quarterbacks this year.

Sky View put up 14 points in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th quarters of that game while scoring 7 in the 3rd. The balanced attack saw six different players carry the ball for a total of 180 yards. Dane Anderson led the way with 22 carries for 129 yards, 3 touchdowns, and secured him Offensive Player of the Game honors.

The Bobcats had 181 receiving yards utilizing five different players. The receiving corps were led by Logan Miller with 8 catches for 122 yards and he received the Overall Player of the Game Honors.

Defensively the Bobcats were able to put points on the board as well—Alex McCrea and Logan Miller each had interceptions that were returned for touchdowns. McCrea snagged one in the end zone and went 101 yards for a score while Miller’s was a 65 yard pick six.

Robert Eckenbrack was named Defensive Player of the Game with 5 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

The Sky View defense pitched a shutout for the second half.

Logan Summary

Sky View was shut out in the first half of this game but battled back to put up 21 points in the second half. But, in a reversal of fortune from a week prior Logan was able to score 17 in the 1st quarter, a pair of 14 point quarters in the 2nd and 4th, and added 7 more in the 3rd.

Sky View picked up more first downs than Logan registering 21 to Logan’s 18 but couldn’t match the Grizzlies offensive production even with a slight edge in time of possession.

The Bobcats had decent rushing and passing yards grinding out 136 yards on the ground and 270 yards in the air.

Dane Anderson led the rushing corps once again handling the ball 19 times for 116 yards and a touchdown. His production earned him his fifth Offensive Player of the Game selection this season.

Braxton Godderidge scored on a quarterback keeper from a yard out, and hit Logan Miller on a 12 yard touchdown pass.
