Agenda: Board to reconsider north elementary school configurations
Final action over grade configuration at northern Cache elementary schools is expected Thursday evening. The Cache school board will discuss whether to keep their original decision to switch Sunrise, Summit, North Park and Greenville elementary schools to K-5 or whether to switch back to split schedules of K-2 and 3-5.
Reaction to the school board’s original decision to switch all schools to K-5 prompted a public hearing at the next school board meeting on December 3. Many parents, teachers and citizens expressed support for both sides of the debate. However, like the parents poll before, more people expressed support to stay with the split K-2/3-5 schedule.
Thursday, as part of their regular meeting, the school board should make their final decision.
The board had planned two public meeting to discuss proposed boundaries for after the new elementary school is finished. But these meetings were postponed until January until after the grade configurations are finalized.
