HYDE PARK — Come November, residents of Hyde Park will vote to see if the local Maverick, located at 675 W. Center St., will be allowed to sell beer or not.

HYDE PARK — City Council members debated the possibility of approving the first green home in Cache Valley. If approved, this would be the third house in all of Utah to be a green house.

HYDE PARK — The city is taking it down a few decibels. Two new ordinances were brought to the floor at Wednesday’s City Council meeting that could make Hyde Park a little more quiet.

HYDE PARK—A parking ordinance was amended by the City Council Wednesday. Ordinance 2011-02 amended ordinance 2008-01 which was unclear about the process of appealing a parking ticket. The new ordinance informs residents that they are allowed to submit an appeal in writing to be considered by a hearing officer.

HYDE PARK—Only one person was in attendance at the Hyde Park Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on Wednesday night. Steve Alexander waited until the end of the meeting to voice his concern about damages done to his property by Gary Andersen Construction during the formation of a new subdivision.

HYDE PARK—During an emergency preparedness presentation at Wednesday night’s City Council meeting, Brian Potts of the Smithfield Fire Department stressed the need to draw up a formal declaration of a financial cap for disaster management if the city needed to declare a state of emergency.

HYDE PARK—Chief Kim Hawkes of North Park Police Department presented the department’s 2010-2011 budget to the City Council Wednesday night. “We didn’t offer any increases in salary last year, and at this point in time we are projecting the same thing,” Hawkes said.

HYDE PARK—Plans to improve emergency preparedness education for council members and residents was presented at Wednesday night’s City Council meeting.
